A pitted, damaged, or uneven concrete floor is both dangerous and ugly. Rough surfaces create tripping hazards, places where water and other substances can pool and further ruin the concrete, and can cause other structures to shift and break.

Repairing a concrete floor is easier and cheaper than replacing the entire surface, especially if you catch the problem early.

Concrete Resurfacing Options

Concrete resurfacing is one way to tackle concrete floor repair. Resurfacing products are applied right on top of the existing floor, filling cracks and creating a smooth new surface. This is good for small repair jobs but should not be used if a concrete floor is heavily damaged.

Larger cracks can be filled with a bonding adhesive, then a patching compound. When doing this type of repair, the compound can be levelled using a trowel to make it even with the surrounding floor.

Some concrete resurfacing products are self levelling, making your new floor surface flat and even without a lot of extra work. You may need to use a concrete grinder to bring down higher areas of the floor, or patch pits and dips in order to start with a more level surface. A levelling bar can help you determine where the floor has bumps or dips.

Getting Help

If the scope of the project is commercial or just too much for a do it yourself project, do not hesitate to bring in expert concrete contractors to repair and level your concrete floors.

Calling in a professional concrete restoration company will help ensure that the repair and levelling job is done right the first time, saving you any additional costs or headaches and preventing future issues. A professional quality concrete repair and levelling will keep your floor sturdy and looking good for years to come!
